Falling in Love with Barcelona

Barcelona reminds me of summer. Everyone I met was so warm and friendly and there is an undertone of excitement in the air. I loved just wandering the streets with my friend/ amazing tour guide Theresa, and taking in the incredible smells, colors and people. I stayed at the Garden Factory Hostel, which was located in the center of the city and was walking distance to nearly everything.

Check out some of my must see spots:

  • One of my favorite places was St. Joseph’s Market. It’s a very popular market, and was filled with the hustle and bustle of morning shoppers. They had an incredible array of food and a very impressive treats section.

  • I took a beautiful walk down Ramblas De Canaletes. Here we ran into many human statues- a skill which I find extremely impressive.

  • Parc Guell was incredible. We simply walked around and admired the view, gardens, and buildings in the area.

  • Anella Olimpica is located on the hill of Montjuic and was the main sporting area for the Olympic games in 1992. We went on a weekday when there wasn’t a soul in sight, and we were just in time for the sunset. To put it simply- it was breath taking.

  • Barcelona definitely puts New York City’s “The City that Never Sleeps” saying to shame. Dinner starts at 9pm and the partying…well it never stops.

My stay in Barcelona ended all too quickly. I fell in love with the city and the people. My biggest regret in life to date…not taking Spanish in high school.
